On April 30, 2022, I landed on Sarushima, the only uninhabited island in Tokyo Bay. There, we saw a fusion of beautiful nature and buildings left behind by the former Japanese military.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n

Beautiful Sarushima<\/h2>\n\n\n\n\n\n

Sarushima is an uninhabited island located on the opposite shore from the Yokosuka Naval Base. Therefore, in preparation for a decisive battle on the mainland in World War II, a gun battery was set up on the high ground to defend the naval base and was supposed to attack fighter planes in the sky and battleships at sea. However, it was never used. Therefore, the equipment was never attacked or otherwise left untouched. It is possible to come here on a day trip from Tokyo and easily dive into another world. From Yokosuka Chuo Station, a 10-minute walk to Mikasa Park.
From Mikasa Park, you can enjoy a cruise to Sarushima for about 2,000 yen for a round trip.
