Lake Haruna is a caldera lake created by the volcanic activity of Mt. Its elevation of 1,084 meters makes it the second highest of Japan’s major lakes, after Lake Chuzenji in Tochigi Prefecture. Even in summer, the lake is cool, with average temperatures in the low 20s, making it a popular summer resort. In this issue, we introduce the scenery along the shores of Lake Haruna in summer.
